Interview With Author And Cover Designer Kathryn Jenkins — Writer’s Treasure Chest

Today I am featured over on Aurora’s Writer’s Treasure Chest. She asked several interesting questions that hit on my own writing to my design works. Hope you all will stop by and check it out.

Welcome! We know each other for a while now. I know you are not only a very gifted writer, but also an excellent graphic designer and book cover designer. I know there’s much more, and I’d like to hear about that. 1. When did you start writing? It is hard to say when I […]

Custom Cover: Print Cover Reveal

This evening I put the final touches on this print cover, that I did for Allison D. Reid. The process for this cover was different from my others. That being due to this being a collaborated piece between myself and my fellow designer, Alfredo Pachicano.

Alfredo has been working with me for a few years now, mainly on Allison’s books for her Wind Rider Chronicles series. This cover is the latest release of her series, Visions of Light and Shadows, Book 3 of the Wind Rider Chronicles.

The process behind this cover was pretty easy for myself. You see before Alfredo came into the picture I have worked with Allison for about a year or more, so I have come to expect what she likes. Many designers would find her picky, overwhelming or even hard to work with. However, I love working with her, she pushes me to new heights. We have been together since I started my journey onto the path of designing covers, along with becoming an author myself, and I have no intention of stopping anytime soon.

Alfredo jumped on the band wagon just this last year and he is the one behind the beautifully illustrated image provided on the cover. He has been slaving away on re-doing the first two books in the Wind Rider Chronicles, and this one provided above. The plan has been to rework all the covers to create a series set that flows from one book to another.

I haven’t master the art of transferring designs from paper over to digital yet, and Alfredo is by far a better illustrator than myself. In this way we seem to compliment each other, since he has no understanding of the book cover formatting specifications. As a result he did the illustrating, where I did the formatting, text and photo manipulation on our co-projects.

This cover I had access to the psd files, so I was able to manipulate the illustration to create the back flap for this one. I am hoping it will work out for the others in the series, but won’t know till the time comes.

Book 3 has finally been finished. I do have the new image for book 2, Ancient Voices: Into the Depths, so this will be my next assignment to accomplish for Allison. Then once book 1, Journey to Aviad’s art has been complete, then I will work that one. I will keep everyone updated on this series project as it continues.

So, I have drowned on for a long while, but what kind of designer/author would I be if I didn’t share some links. Below you will find link’s to Allison’s website, FB page, Twitter and her FB group. I’ll even throw in link’s to her books.

I hope you all will check out her site and even snatch up the first book of her series if you haven’t yet. This series falls in the genres of Epic fantasy and Christian Fantasy. I fell in love with her as an author the second I opened Journey to Aviad and I even cried at the gut wrenching blow Ancient Voices: Into the Depths threw my way. I will be excited to read book 3 and yes I will be writing a review for you all to read.

I hope you all have a good weekend and if you are looking for a book to read I bet you will find one here on this very page, wink wink :).

But, how else will you be updated on things. Here is some torture:

I thought I would give you all an update on things real quick, before I show off these covers. The last few days I have been finalizing my website and created packages for custom covers to promotional items. I even got my individual services up on the site now too. Last night after taking a few days away from designing covers, I started a new one. Thought I would let you see a teaser of what it looks like so far. This one is going to be apart of my Deluxe Premades collection.

There has been a big change to my premade store. I have decided to break specific covers into different categories, which is good for you. That being you will get more added services with each category.

PREMADE COVER PREVIEW: Deception/Marked for Hell/Love’s Descent

I was suppose to post this preview yesterday, however the day just got away. I plan on making this series of covers public on Friday. Right now they are available in my FACEBOOK GROUP, at a discounted rate. If you are interested in seeing the full cover all you have to do is join my group.

I did several different techniques in these covers compared to my other premades. I hope everyone will enjoy them as much as I did creating them. It’s hard to believe I did all three of these in two days. Without further a do, I will stop drowning on and let you see the preview. Enjoy 🙂

Premade Cover Reveal: Huntress

Just the other day I posted a preview of one of my premade covers that was posted in my FACEBOOK group. If you missed it here it is again.

Today I plan on revealing the full cover for the public to see at the bottom of this post and social media.

This cover inspired by my love for the Percy Jackson books and the goddess Artemis with her hunters. The second I saw this girl I had to have it. I have a big love for the greek gods and goddesses, which tends to roll over into designs on occasion.

I hope you enjoy this cover. If you are interested in purchasing just fill out the form here. I do have a sneak peek planned for later today. It is a trilogy cover set that is themed for a dark fantasy/paranormal romance. Keep your eyes peeled, 🙂

Screen Shot 2018-07-22 at 2.35.34 PM

The newest cover that I posted in my FACEBOOK group two days ago. Will be revealed tomorrow for the public. Members get a 48 hour window before I make the premade covers public.

I plan to post cover previews for those that are interested, with a deadline of when it goes public. This one I got behind on with working on a series cover set and getting my website back up in running. I still have a few more things to add to the website, but I plan on keeping everyone updated as things continue.

If you happen to see a cover preview that has captured your attention/interest feel free to join my group, if you aren’t interested in waiting. I would like to mention that new members that join the group get a $20 discount on a premade cover of their choice or 20% off a service order. If that doesn’t motivate you, members also get all covers at a $10 discount automatically, sometimes even more depending on if I want to make a special deal.

I plan to keep posting more frequently now as things progress. I do have several posts I need to get up over the next few days, so keep your eyes peeled. Not only will I be posting premade cover previews, but I do have a few custom covers that I need to do a reveal for on here. Stay tuned hope you all have a good hump-day tomorrow. 🙂

These last few days have been busy. I have been working on several premade book covers. Not only that but I have been working on two custom covers for author duo, Ben Merical and Jack Murphy, and Allison D. Reid.

Sword & Sorcery Inspired Cover

If you haven’t noticed I missed a post yesterday. I was working on several ideas for a premade cover yesterday and ended up deleting them all. Overall, I ended up just letting the day go by and just take a day to have a break. I did work on a custom cover, however I can’t show it yet till it is done.

This cover today actually was inspired by my own works in progress. I have a few characters that are called swordmasters. They are deadly swordsmen that are adept mages. They were labeled swordmasters due to their ability to master the two elements of war. The only difference is that they are both men instead of being female. The girl on this cover though reminded me a lot of my character Kero. She is actually a dragon rider and is a pupil to swordmaster Rikkin.

I can probably drone on forever about my WIPs, but I bet you all would rather see the cover. So, here it is, hope you all enjoy it.

Paranormal Romance Pre-Made Cover

Tonight I am posting my newest pre-made cover rather late. Today just got away from me, spent the morning at physical therapy. Time just seemed to get away, but I did manage to get this cover done for you all to enjoy.

This one actually started out more with the direction of being a normal fantasy romance cover. However, you can see it took a more darker turn. I was watching a horror movie while making this one. If that doesn’t help explain why it turned out the way it did, then I don’t have any other ideas.

Hope you all enjoy this one. I find this to be one of my favorites. It is one thing to be able to make a bright and beautiful cover, but it is another when you can make it spooky and pretty at the same time.

Magical Forest Pre-Made Cover

This one was a bit different working with today. I got some brushes through a site called, to use in photoshop. Not one for painting to much I decided to give them a try. I ended up using two stock images and painting a lot of the little details.

Overall, for trying out a new technique I can say I am happy with the end result. I am excited to see what everyone things of this one. I’m excited for the day to come for an author to snatch this one up. Not sure yet what I will do for tomorrow, but right now I am happy to showcase this beauty. Enjoy 🙂
