Cover Reveal: Reecah’s Gift

Happy Tuesday everyone. Today I have a special cover reveal featuring author Richard H. Stephens two books. We had the honor to do both of them and they are some of our favorite dragon covers to date.

The most recent cover we did is Reecah’s Gift. This is book 2 in Richard’s Legend of the Lurker Series. The designer was Katie Jenkins and features the use of stock images.

Fleeing from the only life she has ever known, Reecah Windwalker sets out to avert a terrible tragedy. One that will force the dragons to the edge of extinction. But first, Reecah must find herself.

Braving the perils of a cutthroat city, Reecah discovers that as bad as life may have seemed, nothing had prepared her for what her future had in store. Surviving hardships no one should ever have to endure, she finds herself face-to-face with those seeking her demise.

Without the intervention of an eclectic warrior, and the assistance of her dragon friends, Reecah might never realize the gift so many died to protect.

Scheduled for release July, 2019.

Book 1 we did a while back but have been waiting to do the cover reveal here on our blog. Reecah’s Flight was a premade cover that was purchased by Richard. Below you will see not only the ebook but the print edition also.

To defy the king is to ask for death.

A young girl dreams of flying. Encouraged by her grandfather to follow her heart, Reecah grows up to form a forbidden relationship with a baby dragon.

Secretly opposing the mandate of her people, Reecah tests the boundaries of unconditional love as she and her enchanting accomplice battle the discriminating laws governing the land.

Together they confront the king’s men in a desperate attempt to save the dragons from extinction.

I am a dark-fantasy writer that likes to take reality and smash it into fantasy and let things fall where they may. Although I see myself as more of a visual storyteller (filmmaker/screenwriter), I am ultimately a storyteller. I started out writing short stories to entertain myself and my friends, which progressed into writing screenplays. Then, after wanting to expand on my stories and the characters, I decided to try novel writing. My parents did not share my passion of wanting to make movies and writing stories as a career, so I abandoned it for a while. But it came back to me. Some things are meant to be and they will always find a way to be together.

I have an infinite amount of love for animals, especially wolves. Every story of mine features a wolf in some way.

A Father’s Protection

His animal instincts took control of him instantly. He jumped to his feet flexing his muscles as he crouched. DarkDeath smiled letting his power slowly seep into his legs. It has been far to long since I got to have this much fun. A smile creep into his eyes as everything blurred as his legs leaped into a full charge.

Ha…this is more like it. The trees blurred past him as mere moments took him miles in distance. The speed was so extreme it would destroy any weaker being. Flowers were obliterated at his passing, animals screamed in fear running from his power. The sense of battle was filling him full of glee…I feel like a pup again. Perhaps, I’ll let the pups stray more often.

He sprinted to the clearing as the wind blew against his nose, giving him updates on his enemy. The distance was nothing for him he managed to cover ten miles under a few seconds. The clearing came into few as the trees separated opening up into grassland that was circled by a small cliff and trees.

DarkDeath, looked around from the shadow of the trees watching. He wasn’t alone without realizing it a twin-tailed fox snuck up on him. His eyes watched the silvery colored fox walk into the clearing circling its prey.

“I know your there, Kyre King” the she fox teased.

He rolled his eyes, of all the foxes he had to deal with, it had to be this one. Females were ten times more irritating and all he needed was to get carried away. “I would step out from behind your tree, Dark One.”

“The name is DarkDeath, Silver hide” he growled.

“Hmmm…call me what you will Kyre” she said entwining her tail playfully. “But, last I checked I wasn’t the one with a pup in someone else’s territory.” Her delicate paws jumped from the ground onto a boulder. She twisted, sitting herself high above, giving herself the advantage over him.

Custom Cover: Double Cover Reveal

Just the other week I did a cover reveal for Allison D. Reid’s new book, Visions of Light and Shadow. This is her third installment in her series the Wind Rider Chronicles. Alfredo and I have been on a journey for the last year working on a big project for Allison. The project was to bring a consistent, illustrated and series connect to her books in print.

The plan is to have all her books illustrated by Alfredo and I do the photo manipulation and formatting. We started this project as I stated a year ago. We have finished her third book since it was the most pressing of them all. Now I get to say I have put the final touches on Journey to Aviad and Ancient Voices: Into the Depths just yesterday. You know what the means? It means I get to showcase both covers to you all at once. So, without further a do I present the new Journey to Aviad and Ancient Voices: Into the Depths.

I thought I would share all three books in the series side by side. This way you can see the entire collection as one. These are all the ebook covers, I am formatting the print covers. Then they will go through a proofing process, to make sure the physical copy is the colors Allison is looking for. Due to this process the covers won’t change over in the marketplace till the print covers arrive in the mail to complete the proof, keep your eyes peeled for the announcement for when they go live worldwide.

Custom Cover: Print Cover Reveal

This evening I put the final touches on this print cover, that I did for Allison D. Reid. The process for this cover was different from my others. That being due to this being a collaborated piece between myself and my fellow designer, Alfredo Pachicano.

Alfredo has been working with me for a few years now, mainly on Allison’s books for her Wind Rider Chronicles series. This cover is the latest release of her series, Visions of Light and Shadows, Book 3 of the Wind Rider Chronicles.

The process behind this cover was pretty easy for myself. You see before Alfredo came into the picture I have worked with Allison for about a year or more, so I have come to expect what she likes. Many designers would find her picky, overwhelming or even hard to work with. However, I love working with her, she pushes me to new heights. We have been together since I started my journey onto the path of designing covers, along with becoming an author myself, and I have no intention of stopping anytime soon.

Alfredo jumped on the band wagon just this last year and he is the one behind the beautifully illustrated image provided on the cover. He has been slaving away on re-doing the first two books in the Wind Rider Chronicles, and this one provided above. The plan has been to rework all the covers to create a series set that flows from one book to another.

I haven’t master the art of transferring designs from paper over to digital yet, and Alfredo is by far a better illustrator than myself. In this way we seem to compliment each other, since he has no understanding of the book cover formatting specifications. As a result he did the illustrating, where I did the formatting, text and photo manipulation on our co-projects.

This cover I had access to the psd files, so I was able to manipulate the illustration to create the back flap for this one. I am hoping it will work out for the others in the series, but won’t know till the time comes.

Book 3 has finally been finished. I do have the new image for book 2, Ancient Voices: Into the Depths, so this will be my next assignment to accomplish for Allison. Then once book 1, Journey to Aviad’s art has been complete, then I will work that one. I will keep everyone updated on this series project as it continues.

So, I have drowned on for a long while, but what kind of designer/author would I be if I didn’t share some links. Below you will find link’s to Allison’s website, FB page, Twitter and her FB group. I’ll even throw in link’s to her books.

I hope you all will check out her site and even snatch up the first book of her series if you haven’t yet. This series falls in the genres of Epic fantasy and Christian Fantasy. I fell in love with her as an author the second I opened Journey to Aviad and I even cried at the gut wrenching blow Ancient Voices: Into the Depths threw my way. I will be excited to read book 3 and yes I will be writing a review for you all to read.

I hope you all have a good weekend and if you are looking for a book to read I bet you will find one here on this very page, wink wink :).

Cover Reveal: Little Black Dress

Happy Friday Everyone,

Today as I stated on our Facebook Page, I have D.B. Mauldin’s Cover Reveal for her newly finished story the “Little Black Dress”. This by far was one of my top favorite covers that I have done recently. I would have to say with having free range to come up with a concept for D.B. Mauldin’s story it defiantly had its challenges.

The girl was easy enough to find but finding the perfect background was a journey in itself. Then came the feeling of it not being truly complete without the love interest being apart of the cover, after all it is a romance story. Even with a few struggles and near misses D.B. and myself are please with the final outcome of her cover. Please don’t hesitate to let us know what you think :). Oh and before I forget watch for “Little Black Dress” coming to ebook retailers this coming Monday (June 27th). Till then hope you all enjoy 🙂

The Little Black Dress Cover

Having been offered a scholarship far away from the prying eyes and gossips of her small hometown, Betsy is excited to be going to the Valentine’s Dance, with her first crush Roland.

However, her clumsiness is a barrier as overcome by nerves; she worries that she will embarrass either herself or Roland. Luckily, her best friend Susan is on hand to offer some friendly advice and a shoulder to lean on. The two girls enjoy a fun-filled day shopping for dresses for the dance.

Will Betsy be able to control her nerves? Will her budding romance with Roland develop into a long-term romance?
