It’s another new week here and we are sitting down with Speculative Fiction author Wendi L. Sneden. She is going to tell us a little bit about herself and talk about her latest short story collection that was release earlier this month. Happy reading everyone :).
Please introduce yourself.
I’m Wendi Sneden. My home is in Southwestern Michigan, but I grew up in the northern Lower Peninsula, and went to Michigan State where I met my husband. Fantastical Tales from the Lady’s Quill is my first published book, although I have been writing for 20+ years.
What genre do you write?
Speculative Fiction: Fantasy and Magical Realism mostly, with hints of Paranormal and Sci Fi.
What type of fantasy creature would you want to be?
One of my first choices would be a Phoenix, because of the fiery renewal metaphor; perhaps a roc, the literature of that region in which it first appears holds some kind of magic for me.
Where do you see yourself in the next 3 years?
I have 3 books to finish and publish. There are many more on my to do list. I hope to use feedback from my readers to help create stories that appeal to them.
What types of movies do you like to watch?
The last movie I truly enjoyed was Black Panther; anything richly conceived, few R rated make my list.
What type of genre do you like to write the most?
Are an indie author, hybrid, or traditional?
At this time, I bill myself as an Indie.
Do you write for a target audience or do you just write because? Why?
I started out writing for fun and challenge. Recently, since I have had trouble finding modern authors that I like, it is also from a sense of contribution.
Is your book in a series?
Fantastical Tales from the Lady’s Quill is a stand-alone short story collection.
What type of creatures are in your books?
Dog and bird spirits, magical cats, an invented beast of burden, humans with supernatural abilities, a dragon with a chip on his shoulder, a ghost, some aliens, angels and more.
Tell us about your latest book?
Fantastical Tales from the Lady’s Quill is a short story collection with the underlying themes of freedom and being set free. They are placed chronologically when they were written, so Redemption is the first story I wrote.
What should we watch for in the coming months?
What is close to ready-for- publication is a children’s picture book, fantasy-educational. Next is a book of poetry and a novel.
What would you like to say to your fans?
Please contact me to let me know what you would enjoy reading. It would also be great to know thoughts on Fantastical Tales from the Lady’s Quill. My Patreon page will give the viewpoint from which I write.
